Ash diamonds from Semper Fides: a connection to a lost friend, forever.
When a beloved pet suddenly ceases to be our faithful daily companion, we must ask ourselves, with a heavy heart, how we want to commemorate our four-legged friend. A family member who means so much more to us than outsiders could ever imagine.
An ash diamond from Semper Fides is a particularly precious and unique form of remembrance, as it is made entirely from your pet’s own carbon. The finished gemstone is called PUREdiamond, expressing the fact that it is made purely from your four-legged friend’s carbon.
We have specialised in the production of pet diamonds since 2006. This makes us the most renowned provider in our industry worldwide, growing diamonds from ashes for our customers in Europe, the USA, Canada and Asia.
Order your gemstone in 5 steps
- Arrange a consultation appointment for your cremation diamond. We would like to take the time to show you all the options available to you.
- During the consultation, we will present you with your options, as you can determine the size and appearance of the PUREdiamond. We will also assist you in completing the order form.
- You provide us with at least 300 grams of your pet’s cremation ashes. If you do not have this amount, you can add the ashes of another animal, for example. Alternatively, human or animal hair can be added for an additional charge. Basically, anything that is organic or has grown naturally and therefore contains carbon is suitable.
- Once we have received the agreed deposit, we will start creating your personal PUREdiamond.
- It usually takes us 4 to 8 months to deliver the ash diamond to you. A certificate is always included. This guarantees that your diamond is made from 100 per cent carbon from the sources you have provided us with.
You have these options for customizing the ash diamond
Part of our understanding of transparency is that you can visit our factory at any time. It is located in the beautiful canton of Graubünden in Switzerland, near the city of Chur. Perhaps you would like to combine a holiday in the mountains with this interesting tour? We would be happy to make an appointment for you.
How would you like to design your ash diamond? We will present you with the options available. You do not have to decide immediately, but can take your time to consider what best suits your ideas. The following options determine the appearance and price:
- Colour design of your cremation diamond: we can grow your PUREdiamond in white, blue or yellow. White diamonds may have slight colour nuances. Whether a yellow or blue diamond is created depends on the processes used in our factory and whether we allow boron or nitrogen elements in the diamond lattice.
- Weight and size: the following millimetre specifications refer to the approximate size after brilliant cut. Size and weight do not depend on how much source material you provide us with for production, but on the duration of the diamond’s growth. The smallest PUREdiamond weighs 0.25 carats and has a diameter of approximately 4.1 mm. The largest PUREdiamond weighs 1.00 carats, which corresponds to a diameter of approximately 6.5 mm.
- If you would like a rough diamond, we will polish it professionally. Our specialists are also proficient in all standard cuts – ask us about the possibilities.
- Engraving or lettering: on request, we can add an additional engraving to uncut ash diamonds according to your specifications.
With the growth of ash diamonds, we are recreating the natural formation process in fast motion.
How is it possible to create a cremation diamond in just a few months, even though the process takes a very long time in nature?
In our factory, we simulate the natural growth conditions that occur in very deep layers of the earth, around 200 kilometres below the surface, in a kind of time-lapse using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and apparatus. Among other things, this equipment enables us to generate a pressure of 60,000 bar and temperatures of around 1,400 degrees Celsius. These are precisely the extreme conditions that prevail 200 kilometres below the Earth’s surface.
After the natural formation of diamonds, it again takes a very long time for them to reach layers of the earth where we can mine them. For comparison: the deepest point on earth ever reached by humans is 3.9 kilometers in the TauTona mine in South Africa, where gold is mined. The diamond is the only gemstone that is formed exclusively from an organic material, carbon. For this reason and because of its rare occurrence, it is considered the most precious of gemstones.
